The Guest, formerly Veri, was The Knot's guest photo-sharing app. It stopped taking new events on 12 October 2022, and downloads of past galleries ended in June 2024. Evokly does the same job without an app: guests scan a QR code, add their photos, and find the ones they appear in by taking a selfie.

What can replace The Guest photo-sharing app?

The Guest itself is no longer an option: The Knot disabled new events on 12 October 2022. The closest equivalent today is a QR code gallery. Why look for an alternative to The Guest

It no longer takes new events

The Knot stopped new The Guest events on 12 October 2022, citing low usage and new App Store limitations. Couples who still find it recommended in older wedding guides need another tool.

Past galleries are gone

Downloads of existing The Guest galleries stayed open until June 2024. Photos that were not saved by then can only come back from the guests' own phones.

It depended on an app

The Guest was a mobile app, and App Store limitations are part of the reason given for closing it. A gallery that opens in the browser from a QR code depends on no app store and asks guests to install nothing.

When to stay with The Guest

Staying is no longer possible: The Knot has accepted no new The Guest event since 12 October 2022 and closed downloads in June 2024. If you used it for a past wedding and some photos are missing, the only copies left are on your guests' phones, and a new gallery is the simplest way to ask them to share those again.

Is The Guest app still available?

No. New events were disabled on 12 October 2022, and The Knot kept downloads of past galleries open until June 2024. The app cannot be used for a new wedding.

Can I still recover photos from a The Guest gallery?

Not through The Guest, whose downloads closed in June 2024. Guests often still have the originals on their phones: send them the link to a new Evokly gallery and they can add them in a few seconds, at original quality.

Do guests need to install anything with Evokly?

No. They scan the QR code on the tables or in the invitation, and the gallery opens in their phone's browser, with no app and no account.
